What’s it all about?
DOC DAY is Ireland’s first wedding photography conference focused exclusively on the art of documentary photography. Our series of talks over 1 day are designed to inspire, motivate and equip you to make memorable and unique photographs of the real moments of a wedding day.
The wedding education industry has no shortage of great conferences which will help you to improve your couple posing and bridal portraits, appeal to wedding blogs and better curate your website and instagram feed.
This is not one of them.
DOC DAY is a lot more photography and a lot less wedding industry. It’s about the skill of making great documentary images. It’s about identifying moments and carefully but quickly composing to make unique photographs of the real un-staged story of the wedding. It’s about photographing the things that happen with intention and with your unique perspective. A perspective that tells us something more about the subjects, the photographer and even about ourselves in our time and culture.

Upskill your documentary game
Through the work and vision of the talented community of wedding photographers worldwide who have pushed the limits over the last decade or so, wedding photography has moved on from the old public perception of it as something highly staged and formal and clichéd. Today our couples trust us to do more than that. Wedding photography in our time brings with it a very privileged access to people’s lives and a licence to document them intimately, making it a dream job for a photographer. Doc Day is about empowering you to make the most of that privilege.
So come along to be inspired by our panel of international documentary photographers, to up-skill your documentary game and to indulge your love of photography so you can really make the most of your 2024 wedding season.
