We can guarantee you that at some point something you've learned that changed the way you shoot came, directly or indirectly, from Tyler Wirken. We've lost count of the references, thanks, nods to, "Tyler told me"s etc we've heard on this stage and in the break room conversations. And they're just the lessons people are aware came from him originally.
It's hard to imagine now that there was a time when "documentary"/"photojournalism" wasn't a widespread approach to wedding photography. But there was such a time and Tyler was one of the original leading forces in the change towards a more individualised authentic take on wedding photography. Taking his background in photojournalism and applying it to weddings, Tyler was an original member of the movement we all belong to today.
One of the world's best documentary wedding photographers, in fact wedding photographers full stop he's equally known as an irreplaceable educator. For over 20 years, through Foundation, Creative Live and his own Wirkshop education series and mentorships Tyler has helped generations of documentary wedding photographers to improve their craft.
